How long is my baby at 20 weeks?
Your baby will normally be around 15cm to 18cm now.
Should we be changing positions to have sex now?
The most important aspect here is your comfort so choose a position that you find most comfortable and doesn’t put too much pressure on your front. This could entail giving the spoons position ago or even positions inspired by the animal world.
Will they tell me the sex of my baby at 20 weeks?
The general rule of thumb is that a sonographer will tell you the sex of your baby during the 20 week scan if they’re able to determine it. You are likely to be asked before they start the checks whether you would like to know. But we would suggest that when they start to wrap up the tests that you politely ask if they’re able to tell if you’re having a boy or a girl.
It is important to realise that seemingly different hospitals have different policies and that if you don’t ask to be told, you won’t be.
There is something called a sexins scan which is different to the normal 20 week scan which is mainly there to establish the health of your baby and yourself – not for determining its gender. If you wanted a specific sexins scan then you should approach your midwife and there is likely to be a charge for this.
Also when you have your 20 week scan take coins with you as you may have to use a machine to buy tokens to have photographs of your scan.
When will I get my Maternity Certificate MATB1?
The MATB1 form will normally be given to you at your antenatal appointment after your 20 week scan. You will then be required to sign it before the start of your 25th week of pregnancy. You will need to have a completed form ready to give to your employer at least 15 weeks before your due date (according to the regulations at the time of writing.)
Are there any chemicals I should stay away from in the home?
